The COVID-19 pandemic indeed changed the face of the corporate world, turning the tables on conventional models to catalyze innovative approaches. These revolutionary business models, embracing flexibility, digitalization, and sustainability, have restructured industries around the world. As I embark on my MBA, it is my intent to add value to this institution with information on how businesses can leverage such transformational altered landscapes to emerge as winners in a volatile market, while deepening my understanding of the strategies that will make successful innovation happen.
One of the key contributions that I can make to the MBA program is my hands-on experience with respect to digital transformation during the pandemic. In my current position, I lead my team to transition into a digital-first business operation model by introducing agile workflows and cloud-based tools. This allowed us to operate without losses even in disruptions, and the success underlined how important adaptability is during times of uncertainty. This is an experience I can share with my classmates to contribute to the discussions on business resilience and change management since the insight into how technology drove such short and long-term gains will be really practical.
The experience regarding disruptions in the supply chain during the pandemic further enhanced my insight and drove the need for flexibility in decentralized supply chains. I pioneered a project that restructured our supplier relationships to reduce reliance on single-source vendors, a method crucial in maintaining continuity during the crisis. This will provide new insight into operations management and strategy classes, adding to the class discussions by exploring how businesses can create more resilient models in terms of minimizing risks in a global market.
This burgeoning demand for sustainability in business is equally an opportunity for transformation, and I am excited about making a contribution to the conversations on how companies can balance profitability with positive societal impact. I have been involved in my organization's sustainability committee and championed initiatives that reduce our carbon footprint and are in line with the shifting consumer preferences for responsible business practices. I would like to share this understanding at your MBA program, in collaborative projects and discussions on sustainable leadership, and help my peers explore ways in which businesses can incorporate ethical practices without losing out on performance. Last but not least, I feel that the change in the workplace culture, from fully in-office to fully hybrid remote, is very challenging and opens up opportunities for leadership. Having managed a team that had to work remotely because of the pandemic, I learned a lot from this experience about communication, employee engagement, and technology's role in team collaboration. I would like to share such knowledge in leadership and organizational behavior classes but also learn from others how we will need to modify our leadership style to this new evolving environment.
In conclusion, the COVID-19 pandemic catalyzed a transformation in business models, and I hope to add practical insights into these shifts as I pursue my MBA. It is these experiences, not only those concerning digital transformation but also supply chain management, sustainability, and leadership, that will really enrich the pool within the MBA program, adding value to my classmates. I am keen on collaborating, sharing, growing together with future business leaders, and shaping a future wherein businesses can thrive within a rapidly evolving world.
